Is the Catholic Church Racist?

I went to the press conference being held on behalf of Father Michael Pfleger, the respected Catholic Priest on the Southside of Chicago. In case you don?t know, Father Pfleger?s church, St. Sabina, is a predominantly black church and his members love him. He has served the South Side of Chicago with the kind of courage only shown by a true spiritual soldier. He has stood strong with mothers as their sons have died and has put himself in the middle of nearly every kind of devastation that plagues inner cities across America.
But as most of us know, a true soldier and man of God is going to eventually be undermined by the establishment. Father Pfleger was recently suspended by the Catholic Church for refusing to leave the members of St. Sabina and going to another church. The parishioners were further disrespected by Cardinal Francis George when he (according to an email I received today from community activist Mark Allen) sent another priest to replace Father Pfleger, allegedly without giving any notice to the staff.
Whether the note from Allen can be confirmed or not is not the issue for me. The fact is that with every decision being made by Cardinal George, I am losing more and more respect for Catholic Church leadership in Chicago ? it seems that their mission has nothing to do with God and everything to do with egos. Here are thoughts on the situation with Father Pfleger that come to mind:
1) The members of St. Sabina should leave their church and find another way to connect with God. There is almost nothing holy about the behavior of Cardinal George, for he is representing the very worst that the Catholic Church has to offer. Bullies in the pulpit must be confronted, even if they claim to be ordained by God.
2) The behavior of the church is clearly racist. One has to wonder if St. Sabina would be served with such disrespect if it were not predominantly black. Also, one can?t help but wonder if Father Pfleger is being punished (actually being treated like a n*gger lover) for spending too much time around black folks and caring about the issues in our community. If he were doing half as much work for white kids in the suburbs, his church would hail him as a hero.
3) Hypocrisy abounds in this situation. I find it astonishing that the very same church that had no problem covering up for pastors who?ve had sex with little children would punish the pastor who has done as much for the children of Chicago as any leader in the last 30 years. They should be ashamed for their behavior.

Cash Money Launching New Label + Soulja Boy Signing With Cash Money? + Diamond Talks About Her New Relationship
As superlabel Cash Money Records bombards the billboards with several hits, its been announced that Soulja Boy might be joining the label's all star roster. Read on to get details about his meeting with Birdman, the new sub-label being formed and rapper Diamond talking about what attracted her to Soulja Boy...
In a recent interview, YMCMB President Mack Maine told MTV News that he is going to start a new label under the Cash Money records. He said:
"You know how Roc-A-Fella had State Property; I'm actually in the process of starting a new label ... a sub-label, basically."
Well hopefully he succeeds. YMCMB already have several acts like Tyga, Lil Twist, Cory Gunz, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda and R&B singer Shanell that have yet to drop their long awaited albums .
Speaking of signing new artists....
According to Rap-Up, during a recent trip to Miami to record with Sean Kingston, Soulja Boy met with Cash Money CEO, Birdman, to discuss joining the YMCMB crew.
“I met with Baby and Slim down in Miami. He’s trying to get me to come over to Cash Money.I’ve been a fan of Cash Money since I was young. I’ve been listening to Birdman’s music since I was growing up. I would have never thought. I’m taking it into consideration. Birdman, we really had a good talk when we met. But I’m still young. I’m only 20 years old. So after I do these two albums, I either have the choice to go back to Interscope and re-up, do my contract over, or I can go down to Miami with Cash Money."
Looks like the Soulja Boy hype train is still going strong. He is being offered a home at one of the biggest labels right now and is currently filming for the remake of Tupac's Juice. His new girlfriend, Diamond, got herself a keeper and is definitely #winning right now.
In an new interview, Diamond said that Soulja Boy's intelligence and good manners are his most attractive qualities.
"We've been friends for awhile. He's always been real sweet, real manner-able guy, he's very, very smart, intelligent," Diamond said. "I learn from him and that's what I look for when I date a guy. I like to learn, teach me. Sometimes guys want to compete. And that was one of the key things that captured my attention about him."

Deion Sanders Fights to Help Kids Stay Fit

Deion L. Sanders retired as a professional football player in 2001, but is scoring big points off the field for NFL Network?s Keep Gym in School Program. Sanders is conducting a press conference in New York today with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and 4 middle school kids who will be receiving awards for their participation and improved dedication to fitness. The announcement shines a spotlight on The Keep Gym in School Fitness Program, which was developed in association with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
The program is a component of the NFL PLAY 60, the league?s youth health and fitness campaign designed to keep kids active at least 60 minutes a day. The emphasis is placed on combating childhood obesity by supporting physical education programs in America?s schools. In addition to the conference, there will be a PE Teacher of the Year award with a $10,000 grant for her school?s PE program as well as football clinics for city kids, with the assistance of retired NFL players: Donovan Darius; Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Charles Haley, Brad Hoover, Cortez Kennedy, Natrone Means, Joe Morris, Anthony Mua?Oz and Willie Roaf, so stop by if you?re in town.

SPORTS: Denver Broncos' Jason Hunter Stabbed + Albert Haynesworth Rejects Plea Deal For Sexual Assault Charge
Police are reporting that Denver Broncos baller Jason Hunter has been stabbed by his girlfriend, making him the second NFLer to be involved in a domestic dispute over the past week. We told you a few days ago that Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall was stabbed by his wife and now, police in Michigan say that Broncos defensive end Jason Hunter was stabbed by his girlfriend.
Jason, who used to play for the Detroit Lions, was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. The Broncos released a statement today saying they were in the process of gathering more information.
"Our thoughts are with Jason, and we are hopeful he makes a quick recovery," the team said. "Out of respect for his privacy, we will not have additional comment on the matter at this time."
SMH.....the NFL season can't start soon enough. We need to get those men out on the field because sitting at home is not working.

A. Scott Bolden, the attorney for Washington Redskins' Albert Haynesworth, rejected the government's offer of a plea deal after Albert was indicted on a sexual assault charge saying, the offer was "not much of a plea deal."
Prosecutors alleged that Albert fondled the breasts of a waitress at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C., during an event in February, but A. Scott disputes that.
"All of the very inflated and beefed-up facts that the W employees have put together, to make fit nicely with the government case, the government has to prove those allegations now," he said.
Although the details of the plea are secret, the charge could bring 180 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg went on a tirade after finding out that the NYPD gave the rapper Sean ?Diddy?Combs a police motorcade to make a $75,000 event in New Jersey. The mayor launched a probe into the incident, stating that it is unacceptable for anyone to receive police assistance with taxpayer dollars. Officers from NYPD internal affairs went to the Midtown South precinct to go through logs, records and work schedules to find out who was responsible for what happened. They are also reviewing videotapes from 35th Street and Times Square to find out more information.
"After being repeatedly rebuffed by police officers on the street -- and a police lieutenant at the station house -- a dry cleaner claiming to represent Sean Combs [Diddy] apparently prevailed upon a sergeant to direct a police van driven by a police officer to escort Combs," the NYPD said.
The mayor didn?t take this lightly. "The bottom line is the Police Department should treat everybody exactly the same. If you don't get a police escort, P. Diddy shouldn't,? he said.

ONE OF DESTINY CHILD'S OLD MEMBERS JUST GOT ARRESTED
*Whatever happened to the members of Destiny?s Child? Well according to reports from TMZ, one was just arrested Saturday morning at 6:45.
The details surrounding her arrest are scarce, but Farrah Franklin, 29, was taken into custody shortly after an alcohol-induced situation.
Leading up to the event, she tweeted she was out with her family.
